Every year there is a colour that stands out all above the other. You can see it dominating on the runways, in makeup, even interior. While the colour of 2017 was “millennial pink”, the trend-watchers and trendsetters at Pantone have revealed that the colour of 2018 will be – “Ultra Violet“!
The colour authority describes the blue-based purple shade as one that “communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us towards the future.”
Designer giants Carolina Herrera, Ralph Lauren, Preen etc. have already incorporated it in their Spring 2018 fashion collections on the runways.
Although it might seem like a hard colour to wear, I think that easiest way to incorporate the hue of purple is via makeup. A gorgeous Ultra Violet lipstick on the lips can make any makeup look evening-ready. Or try to swap a classic black or brown smokey eye for a deep purple one! If that sounds too crazy and out of your comfort zone, but you still want to follow the trend – wear ultra violet on your nails. Sorted 🙂
Below are few ideas I have found on Pinterest for makeup inspiration.
I think purple looks absolutely gorgeous on every eye colour, especially blue eyes. Purple lipstick on the other hand might look unusual or too strong for some, but try to keep the rest of your makeup soft and nude and have the emphasis on the lips.
There are loads of makeup brands that have beautiful violet shades of lipsticks and eyeshadows in their makeup range, so finding the products to play with, will not be a problem.
Can’t wait to create some makeup looks with this vibrant, futuristic colour of 2018 myself 🙂
